About Me

I have spent more than three decades in various senior positions in the IT industry across South Africa, Australia, and the USA. I have had broad management, consulting, sales, and technical experience in this time with global companies such as Nampak, Microsoft, and VMware, and have been in a leadership position during much of this time.
From the data center to the cloud, containers, automation, and infrastructure as code, I have tried to keep my experience varied and customer-centric, adapting to the constant changes in our world. I have had extensive and incredibly varied experience in my career, and thrive as a motivated, passionate, and results-driven individual, who loves his customer and always does the right thing.

2023 - Curr: Technical Account Manager @ Perforce Software
Currently leveraging deep technical expertise to ensure client success with Perforce software solutions, optimizing workflows and providing strategic guidance. Focus on building strong relationships and driving value.
2023 - 2024: Coo/Co-Founder @ Kredit
Co-founded Kredit, a startup focused on innovative financial solutions, overseeing operations, product development, and strategic partnerships from inception to early growth stages.
2021 - Present: Senior Manager, Enterprise Customer Success – West US @ VMware
I lead a team of experienced enterprise CSMs, and the renewal business, for the West US at VMware. I am responsible for all renewal revenue, to maintain our ARR, and ensure our largest customers pre and post sales relationships are maintained.
2020-2021: Enterprise Customer Success Manager – West US @ VMware
As a Customer Success Manager, I own the Customer Lifecycle for a set of valued customers, beginning with customer onboarding and implementation, through adoption and enablement, and renewal achievement. I build impeccable relationships and am highly skilled at achieving trusted advisor and customer advocate status. I own, working closely with the Sales Team, designing and executing customer success plans to ensure customer objectives are truly met, and accountability for renewals, proactively taking action to improve account health score as part of the renewal strategy.
2009-2020: Staff TAM, Team Lead, CTO Ambassador @ VMware Inc.
Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with VMware’s largest and most complex customers (typically Fortune 100 accounts) adopting VMware virtualization software across their data centers and in the cloud. Served clients to ensure successful implementations and as an account manager to ensure positive references and continued standardization on VMware technology. Also served as Team Leader for the SoCal/NV/AZ region and a member of the exclusive CTO Ambassador Program, as well as the TAM tech lead for Kubernetes.
2009 - Present: VMware TAM Social Media Manager @ VMware Inc.
In 2009, I established the worldwide VMware TAM Social Media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and others. I also started and maintain the official TAM Newsletter, delivered to over 500 TAMs and onward to their customers each week, delivering over 200,000 newsletters each year. I also extend this function to VMworld.
2008: Infrastructure Architect (Windows/VMware) @ Brookfield Multiplex
As the Group Infrastructure Architect, it was my responsibility to Architect and deliver business-focused solutions for the group worldwide. This consisted of 8 domains, in 4 worldwide regions (AU, NZ, EU, MEA).
2007: Windows Tech Lead @ Stanwell Corporation
As the Windows Technical Lead, I was responsible for all of the infrastructure from design to maintenance for the entire Stanwell organization. I worked directly with senior leadership to shape the platforms and architecture for our industry growth and change while maintaining a reliable, stable, and secure environment.
2006: Microsoft Solution Architect @ Dimension Data
My position at Dimension Data was in the Operating Environment and Messaging division. I was focused on pre-sales engagements through to delivery with Dimension Data enterprise customers. These solutions were based on Microsoft enterprise technology.
2003–2005: Owner, OverG2 Consulting (South Africa)
At OverG2 I worked with a number of first-tier IT solution providers such as Bytes Technology Group and First Technologies to consult to their customers on Microsoft Technology.
2003-2004: Technical Specialist @ Bytes Technology Group
My role at BTN ensured that on a daily basis I was kept on the bleeding edge of technology. As the lead technology solutions and sales/account management consultant, I was involved in the entire life cycle of project deployment for BTG clients. From project proposal through deployment, my involvement in a hands-on way was guaranteed to our customers.
2002-2003: Chief Operations Officer @ Digital Mall Holdings
Reporting directly to the CEO of Digital Mall. My role was to oversee the entire company of over 80 people with the exception of the sales team. I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business and executing on the company vision. The entire management team, except for the small sales team who reported to the CEO, reported directly to me during this time. I also had direct responsibility for the development team, operations team, and consultants.
1997-2002: Product Marketing Manager/Senior SE/Account Manager @ Microsoft Corp.
During my tenure at Microsoft, I held various positions starting off as a Systems Engineer, evangelizing all Microsoft solutions to our customers in Sub-Saharan Africa (including Mobile evangelist). As I progressed, I took on the role of Account Manager specifically for leading Internet companies. As a product marketing manager, I was responsible for many technologies including SQL, Exchange, and developer tools. I launched a number of products during this time including .NET and ran many events such as MSDN Dev Days, Tech Ed, and hundreds of others.
1994-1997: Application Developer, Sysadmin, Technical Specialist, IT Manager @ Nampak Pty Ltd
During my 3 years at Nampak, I held various positions from Application developer, responsible for the entire group HR application which was used in over 100 factories across Africa. I also held the position of IT Manager responsible for the corporate network infrastructure.
